The days of empty promises are over, says Vice President Kashim Shettima, affirming that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to tangible development and restoring public trust in governance.
Speaking on Friday during the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Shettima, who represented President Tinubu at the event, said the project represents more than infrastructure—it symbolizes renewed hope.
“This is more than just a road,” Shettima said. “It’s a reminder that under this administration, no community is too remote to be seen, and no citizen’s pain is too small to be heard.”

He emphasized that the project marks a turning point in how the government responds to public needs. “I am deeply fulfilled by what this signifies—we are bridging the gap between promise and performance,” he said. “This road is not only a route for transport but a path to dignity for market women, safety for schoolchildren, and prosperity for hardworking traders.”
Shettima noted that the road rehabilitation was not dictated by the federal government but initiated by the local community itself. “These are not top-down projects,” he explained. “They were nominated by the people of Gwagwalada. This is the democracy we believe in—one that listens, responds, and delivers.”
Speaking on broader reforms in the capital, the Vice President highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen the FCT’s economic base. “By expanding the revenue base of the FCT, we are investing in roads, schools, hospitals, and most importantly, our people,” he added.
He also praised the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his decisive leadership, stating, “I thank him for proving that disruption is not a threat to order but a necessary condition for progress.”
The project commissioning is part of the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at promoting inclusive development and responsive governance across all regions.
