The executive order, a long-discussed feature of Trump’s “Agenda 47” campaign platform, reinterprets the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which states, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.”

Trump’s administration argues that the clause does not extend to the children of undocumented and illegal immigrants, aiming instead to restrict automatic citizenship to children with at least one parent who is a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
The policy has drawn significant criticism from legal experts, civil rights groups, and opposition lawmakers. Critics argue that it contradicts the Constitution and is expected to face numerous legal challenges.
It is argued that it would be difficult to amend, and would not be possible, not even by the President’s executive powers.
The National Immigration Law Center and other advocacy groups have indicated plans to challenge the order in court.
Trump’s allies, however, have expressed confidence in defending the policy, emphasizing its alignment with his broader agenda of tough immigration enforcement.

He mentioned other executive orders he would be signing, including gender identification, where he said America would only identify two genders, the female and the male, he and she, being the only pronouns; and that his administration would turn a blind eye to racism.
