Senior pastor of the Power City International Church, Pastor Dr. Abel Damina has caused an uproar among Christians in Nigeria in a shocking short video posted on his church’s Tiktok page.
Dr. Abel Damina in his usual proud and controversial sermon claimed that in material terms, people do not need God to succeed.
Explaining further, the clergyman said, if God makes people succeed or rich , who makes people fail or poor? That if we say Satan, it means Satan overpowered God.
Since it cannot be agreed that Satan could overpower God, then it is God who makes people fail. Yet, it is also unacceptable that God would be the cause of people’s failure. Therefore, people do not need God to succeed materially.

In his words, he said: “I said you don’t need God to succeed and people are tearing their trousers. Okay so God makes people succeed right? Who makes people fail? If you say Satan, that means Satan overpowered God. So God makes people rich right? Who makes people poor? You don’t need God to succeed when it comes to material things. Think about it. We shall reconvene on that matter.”
The Power City General Overseer promised his members to elaborate on the topic later, however, advertised a copy of a book he authored on material success and the scriptures, and urged those who are eager to get a copy.
A lot of Christians have reacted to the sermon, some in support while some strongly against him.
