Popular TikTok content creator Habeeb “Peller” Hamzat has kicked against a ₦36 million tax bill issued by the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), insisting he has received no support from the government.
Speaking during a recent TikTok Live session with singer Tobechukwu “Peruzzi” Okoh, the 20-year-old said the bill was likely triggered by his TVC interview, where he claimed to be making money on TikTok, a statement he now says was “just packaging.”
“I swear to Almighty Allah, I don’t have anything. I only came into the limelight last year. Why should I pay ₦36 million when the government has never given me anything, not even TikTok support?” Peller said.

He explained that his earnings come from social media, mostly outside Nigeria, and not from any formal job in the country. “I don’t work in any company, and I don’t have any,” he added.
Peruzzi, however, advised him to pay the tax to avoid trouble. “The government doesn’t care whether you just became popular. If you’re making money in Nigeria, you must pay tax,” the singer warned, stressing that refusal could lead to arrest.
Peller, known for his laid-back humor and celebrity interviews on TikTok Live, has hosted stars like Olamide, Mr. P, and footballer Victor Boniface.
Peller’s outcry has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many asking him to stop crying and pay the tax, with reference to his refusal to join the 30 Days Rant Challenge and Take It Back Movement. In fact, he had opposed the movement, showing support for the government.
