A heartbreaking video making rounds on social media shows Zahra Buhari, daughter of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, in tears on a London street shortly after the news of her father’s passing.
In the video, Zahra was seen distressed and weeping loudly while people tried to console her. The emotional clip has sparked an outpouring of sympathy from Nigerians and others around the world.
Former President Buhari passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2025, at around 4:30 p.m. in a London hospital following a prolonged illness. He was 81 years old.
Following his death, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a seven-day national mourning period. Flags across the country are to fly at half-mast in his honor, while a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday to begin preparations for his state burial.

Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila are currently in London to oversee arrangements for bringing the former president’s body back to Nigeria.
In his home state, Katsina, the government has declared Monday, July 14, a public holiday to honour the memory of their son and national leader.
Tributes have continued to pour in from world leaders, political allies, and citizens, all reflecting on Buhari’s impact on Nigeria’s governance and his legacy as a former military and civilian head of state.
In a further mark of respect, the National Assembly has suspended all sittings and legislative activities until Tuesday, July 22.
Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2015 to 2023, was known for his anti-corruption drive, military discipline, and frugal lifestyle. He previously ruled Nigeria as a military head of state between 1983 and 1985.
Plans for his final rites are expected to follow Islamic customs, with more details to be announced by the family and presidency.
