Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has asked well-wishers to mark her upcoming birthday by contributing to the completion of the National Library project instead of sending her gifts.

The former lawmaker, who turns 65 on Sunday, September 21, 2025, said in a video message that she has chosen to dedicate the day to God and a cause dear to her heart rather than host an elaborate celebration.

“By the special grace of God, I will be turning 65 years old on the 21st of September, which happens to be a Sunday. I have decided to dedicate the day to God for His blessings in my life and to keep it quiet,” she said.

The First Lady appealed directly to Nigerians, urging them to channel their goodwill into donations. “Those who would like to send birthday cards, cakes, flowers, greetings in the newspapers, or gifts should please direct such funds to the designated account for a special project close to my heart—the completion of the National Library. This would be the best birthday present I could receive,” she added.

She emphasized that her passion for education inspired the decision, describing it as a worthy cause. Contributions are to be paid into Oluremi at 65 Education Fund at Zenith Bank, account number 1310314977, managed by the Federal Ministry of Education.

Her spokesperson, Bukola Kukoyi, also cautioned the public against fraudsters, clarifying that only the account shared by the First Lady should be trusted.
