Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has issued a stern warning to anyone plotting to rig the 2027 governorship election in the state, saying such individuals should “write their will” before attempting it.
Otti gave the warning during his monthly media chat, Alex Otti Speaks to Abians, held on Thursday at the Government House, Umuahia. The governor made the statement while responding to a question about a recent comment by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who had boasted that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would take over Abia in 2027.
Reacting, Otti dismissed the threat, saying that the outcome of the next election would be determined by the will of God and the people of Abia, not through manipulation or result-writing.

“I’ve heard that some people around him are already saying they will take over Abia by writing results. My advice is simple—if they plan to write anything, they should start by writing their will,” Otti said firmly.
He described Kalu as “a friend and younger brother” and said he had forgiven him for making disparaging comments about his administration. However, he warned against any attempt to disrupt the peace and progress currently being enjoyed in the state.
Governor Otti, who won the 2023 governorship election under the Labour Party (LP), reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, saying he has no intention of joining the APC.
