Tragedy has struck the Nigerian boxing community as one of their stars passes on in the ring during a fight in Ghana.
Segun ‘Success’ Olanrewaju is reported to have collapsed in the ring while facing Ghanaian boxer Jon Mbanugu at Fight Night 15 of the Ghana Professional Boxing League at Bukom Boxing Arena.
According to reports, Segun was leading in points before his sudden and unexpected collapse, losing consciousness.

Video of the incident has gone viral on the internet, leaving many in dismay. Both boxers were engaged, exchanging punches. Success didn’t outright look like he would give in, but he was somehow exhausted before he suddenly fell backwards against the ring. The first aid team rushed in, trying to part his already glued teeth in his mouth.
He is said to have had a fatal seizure attack and was later confirmed dead.
Segun ‘Success’ Olanrewaju was a respected athlete, having won the National and West African light-heavyweight championships.
His sudden demise has left ripples of tremor on the boxing community, fans, Nigerians, and West Africa at large, as many tender their tributes.
