Tension erupted in Mabushi, Abuja, on Wednesday after three suspected park touts, commonly known as “agberos,” were lynched and set ablaze by a mob.
The suspects, said to be linked with the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), were accused of causing a fatal accident that claimed the lives of a man, his wife, and their son on Mabushi Bridge.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the touts attempted to extort money from the family and forcefully grabbed the vehicle’s steering wheel, leading to a crash. All three occupants reportedly died on the spot.

A video circulating online showed the suspects lying on the ground before an unidentified person poured petrol on them and set them on fire.
The incident has sparked outrage among residents, with calls on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to ban the activities of AMAC touts in Abuja.
“This is what AMAC agberos have caused. They are harassing people everywhere. A whole family died because of them,” one eyewitness lamented in the video.
As of the time of this report, security agencies have not issued an official statement on the incident.
