The general overseer of the Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has sparked reactions among Nigerian Christians after claiming that Jesus Christ did not go to the house of any poor man in the Bible because he hates poor people.
In a video that has gone viral, the clergyman, who is popular for his gospel of prosperity and giving to pastors, was giving a sermon to his congregants when he told them what he was going to say would baffle them.
Ibiyeomie went ahead and said that Jesus hates poverty; that is why in the Bible he never visited a poor man.
He mentioned Lazarus, whom Jesus once visited, saying Lazarus was not a poor man, that he had enough to feed his household and Jesus during the period he stayed there.

The man of God also mentioned Zaccheus, the dwarf tax collector whom Jesus also visited, noting that Zaccheus was a wealthy man.
Why Jesus never visited a poor man is simply because he hates poor people, according to Pastor Ibiyeomie.
He went on to explain that coming to Christ as a poor and impoverished person is acceptable; however, remaining poor while in church is unacceptable because Jesus hates poverty.
According to him, being poor after accepting Christ shows that one lacks the true knowledge of Christ’s life, resurrection, and purpose.
This is not the first time Pastor David Ibiyeomie has given a controversial sermon that takes on the internet. He is known for his strong disposition towards tithes payments and giving to pastors in order to receive favors and blessings from God.
