A viral video captured the Grammy-winning singer — Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu — addressing the crowd and expressing regret over comments and actions that sparked outrage online.
What Triggered the Backlash
The controversy began at a Denver, Colorado show, where Burna Boy spotted a female fan asleep in the front row. He reportedly ordered security to remove her, asking her boyfriend to escort her out if he wanted the show to continue. The moment, caught on camera, quickly stirred reactions across social media.

Old Video Resurfaces
Matters escalated after an old clip resurfaced showing Burna Boy saying he preferred wealthy fans and didn’t beg anyone for support. The resurfaced footage, combined with the Denver incident, pushed many fans to boycott his shows, leading to poor ticket sales across several tour stops.
Tour Dates Cancelled
Amid the backlash, a number of shows were cancelled. The Minneapolis concert at The Armory, scheduled for November 28, 2025, was cancelled a day before the event. The Chicago show set for December 1, 2025, was also pulled down.
Burna Boy’s Apology
Speaking on stage in Texas, Burna Boy apologised to his fans, describing his previous remarks as unintentional. He said he hoped to rebuild trust and reconnect with his audience.
