Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has set the stage for another milestone as she begins cooking what could become the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
The event, taking place at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, is expected to draw a crowd of over 20,000 people. A lot of people have already turned up, celebrities, including Enioluwa and actress Funke Akindele.
Ahead of the cookout, Baci shared a video on Instagram showing herself scrubbing the massive six-meter-wide pot. She explained that she personally took charge of the cleaning process to assure the public of the pot’s hygiene.

“Yes, I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean! I personally rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself,” she wrote, while tagging the detergent brand she used.
In the clip, the chef was seen inside the custom-made pot, joking about why she had to climb in. She explained that every inch of the pot would be thoroughly washed, rinsed, and sanitized again before the cooking began. In another clip, as the cooking commenced, the chef and her staff stood on ladders to stir the pot.
The record attempt is being organized in partnership with seasoning brand Gino and will see Baci serve thousands of portions of Nigeria’s iconic dish.
This latest challenge comes after her headline-making 100-hour cooking marathon in May 2023, which earned her international recognition and a Guinness World Record.
