A Point-of-Sale (POS) operator has finally been freed after spending two years in prison for a crime she knew nothing about.
The woman, whose story was shared on TikTok by user @liousvee_ml, was reportedly arrested after suspected kidnappers used her POS machine to withdraw ransom money of about ₦500,000 and ₦600,000.
According to the post, the woman was randomly approached by the kidnappers, who made the withdrawals without her knowledge of their criminal activity. Despite her innocence and the eventual arrest of the actual kidnappers, she remained behind bars for two years.
In a video shared online, she’s seen leaving prison, visibly emotional, saying, “I suffer o.”

The post identified her as a member of the Boys Brigade and described her ordeal as a heartbreaking case of injustice against ordinary Nigerians.
“The POS terminal was used by criminals, and she was arrested for it,” the post read. “Even after the real kidnappers were caught and jailed, she was still kept in prison.”
The video quickly went viral, with many Nigerians expressing anger at the injustice and calling out the legal system for failing to protect innocent citizens.
The post ended with a plea to the government: “Please help the masses. Just because many don’t have money or power doesn’t mean they should suffer for crimes they didn’t commit.”
Her release comes as a small relief after two years of wrongful imprisonment. People around were all joyed to see her; she was bathed with powder in a traditional way of celebration.
