Unidentified gunmen have kidnapped the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Samaila Bagudu, from his hometown in Bagudu Local Government Area.
According to reports, the assailants invaded the town late Friday night, shooting indiscriminately to cause panic among residents. The Deputy Speaker was said to have been abducted shortly after observing prayers at a local mosque and was on his way home when the gunmen struck.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Ahmed Idris, confirmed the incident, noting that security agencies had been informed and were working tirelessly to ensure the lawmaker’s safe release.
As of the time of this report, details about the operation remain sketchy, and attempts to reach the Kebbi State Police Command for additional information were unsuccessful.
The abduction adds to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, where kidnapping for ransom has continued to rise despite increased security operations.
