Two notorious terrorists, Abu Radde and Umar Black, who have terrorized residents of Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas in Katsina State, have surrendered to Nigerian troops. The surrender happened on January 19, 2025, amidst intensified military offensives by Operation Hadarin Daji in the North West region.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, confirmed the news, saying ongoing synchronized operations involving both ground and air forces have dismantled major terrorist hideouts and left their ranks in disarray. According to him, “These operations have forced several terrorists to surrender and led to the recovery of weapons and ammunition.”

He also revealed that 15 hostages held by the terrorists were freed during the military operation. Maj.-Gen. Buba assured Nigerians that troops are maintaining the momentum and working tirelessly to eliminate the notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji and others.

“Troops are creating conditions that will ensure terrorists can no longer harm civilians. The message is clear: surrender or face being buried on the battlefield,” Buba stated.

Reacting to the news, some social media users expressed mixed feelings:

Francis Uchenna Eze remarked: “He is checking his phone to see if alert don enter. Kai Nigeria 🤣 What will become of his victims now? So you are free to kill and terrorize people and repent in the future and there won’t be any consequences?”

Adenike Fagbemi also expressed concerns, stating: “They should be forgotten in prison. This nonsense only happens in Nigeria, where terrorists kill, make enough money, and surrender to escape consequences. Later, they go back, wasting resources.”

Uzor Chukz Anagor shared his frustrations, writing: “After the atrocities they have committed against innocent people, they will be granted pardon, while those who lost their means of livelihood and family members will continue to mourn for the rest of their lives. The people responsible will be enjoying their loot and working freely, as though they did nothing wrong. This is the worst crime against humanity.”
