U.S. President Donald J. Trump has announced that Israel and Iran have agreed to a “Complete and Total Ceasefire,” bringing an end to what he called the “12-Day War.”
In a statement released via his Truth Social account, Trump celebrated what he described as a major diplomatic breakthrough. According to him, both countries have agreed to stop all military actions for an initial 12-hour window, with each side taking turns to observe the ceasefire before officially ending the conflict.
“It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED!” Trump wrote.
He explained that Iran would begin the ceasefire, followed by Israel 12 hours later. After 24 hours, the war would be considered officially over and recognized globally as the end of what he termed “The 12 Day War.”

Trump praised both countries for showing what he called “Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence” to end the war, which he claimed had the potential to destroy the Middle East.
“This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will!” he added. “God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!”
However, there have been mixed reactions to the announcement.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, stated publicly that no formal ceasefire agreement had been signed. He insisted that Iran would not begin any ceasefire until Israel fully halted its attacks, casting doubt on Trump’s announcement.
On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israel had agreed to Trump’s proposal. He said Israel had successfully achieved its military goals, particularly in disabling parts of Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, and was now ready to observe a ceasefire if Iran did the same.
Despite some initial violations shortly after the ceasefire window opened, international observers say that the ceasefire largely appears to be holding. Airstrikes and missile launches have reportedly stopped as of early Tuesday morning, according to sources in Jerusalem and Tehran.
The war, which began on June 13, saw heavy fighting, with Israeli airstrikes hitting Iranian nuclear facilities and Iranian missiles targeting Israeli cities and American bases in the region. Hundreds of lives were lost, and thousands displaced—especially in Iran’s capital, Tehran.
While Trump’s announcement has brought temporary relief to the region, no formal peace agreement has been published. International leaders are now urging both sides to enter into broader diplomatic talks to avoid future escalations.
The United Nations and U.S. State Department have yet to release official confirmations or comment on Trump’s personal statement.
