The wife of the President, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, has distributed financial grants to 500 women in Abia State under her Renewed Hope Initiative Women Economic Empowerment Programme.
The beneficiaries, made up of traders and small-scale business owners, each received N50,000 to boost their ventures and strengthen grassroots development.
The event, held in Umuahia on Friday, was launched on Mrs. Tinubu’s behalf by the wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti. She commended the First Lady for her commitment to reducing poverty and unemployment among women across Nigeria.

“This programme is not just about supporting businesses; it is about securing the future of families, educating children, and uplifting entire communities,” Mrs Otti said. She stressed that access to funds, education, and tools for self-reliance would create long-term benefits for Abia and the country at large.
She added that the Renewed Hope Initiative has already transformed the lives of many Nigerian families and urged Abia women to rally more support for Mrs. Tinubu’s programmes.
While presenting the cheques, Mrs. Otti encouraged the women to invest the funds wisely in their businesses to ensure growth and sustainability.
