The presidency has assured Nigerians that President Tinubu, even while away in France, is taking charge of his administrative responsibilities.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said this in a post on his X handle while pleading with Nigerians to remain calm, as the president will be returning after the Easter break.

President Bola Tinubu had traveled to France two weeks ago amid insecurity challenges in parts of the country, which have escalated in his absence, with loss of lives in both Benue and Plateau States.

However, with the rising tensions in those regions and the outcry of Nigerians, the presidency has paid deaf ears.

Onanuga wrote that Tinubu’s absence is temporary, and he would return in due time, as his trip was to be for two weeks. He also disclosed that the president moved to London from France.

The spokesperson said that the president is overseeing critical national matters, including directives to security chiefs to address emerging threats in some parts of the country, even though the threats have only persisted.

He assured Nigerians that Tinubu’s governance continues without interruption and that his commitment to his duties remains unwavering, and his administration continues to function effectively under his leadership.

Since the president left for France, Nigerians have continued to express displeasure and discontent over Tinubu’s habit of traveling overseas since he became president of Nigeria.

He has so far made five trips to France, which many claim to be for health purposes, and 25 others claimed by the presidency to be for both official and private matters.
