Pastor Paul Adefarasin, senior pastor and founder of House on the Rock Church, has addressed a viral video that appears to show him brandishing what some social media users believed to be a firearm at a content creator while stuck in Lagos traffic.
In the footage, which emerged on TikTok and other platforms, the pastor rolls down his Range Rover window and briefly holds an object resembling a pistol. The content creator behind the camera apologizes repeatedly, saying: “Boss, boss, sorry sir,” before Adefarasin drives off.

Reacting publicly for the first time, Pastor Adefarasin clarified via an Instagram statement, explaining:
“You might be aware of a video … showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm. I want to assure you … that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone. … We will speak briefly to this mischief during the 9:00 am service tomorrow.”
His statement aims to quell concerns triggered by the clip, which has drawn commentary from social media activist “VeryDarkMan” (VDM), who demanded a thorough police investigation into whether it was indeed a weapon and questioned the legal standing of private individuals carrying firearms. Socialite Daddy Freeze also condemned the pastor’s actions.
Reactions on social media have been mixed. Some users defend the pastor, suggesting he was taking precautions amid rising insecurity in Lagos traffic. Others condemn the act as unnecessary and dangerous for a religious leader.
