An unpleasant incident occurred in Owerri, Imo State, at the World Bank housing area on Monday.
A boy of 16 years old, identified as Paul, and his peers were playing football when the ball was kicked into a nearby property over a fence.
In a bid to retrieve the ball, Paul jumped over the fence and was instantly shot by the owner of the property.
Paul was rushed to the hospital and was operated on; however, sadly, Paul did not survive the fatality of his wound, where he was shot in the waist.

The 16-year-old Junior Secondary School (JSS) 1 student of Urban Secondary School, Area N, died on Thursday at the Specialist Hospital in Umuguma, Owerri, despite undergoing surgery on Wednesday.
Mr. Jonathan Odinkanwa, whom Paul lived with for seven years with his family, could not hold back his tears over the death of Paul.
He said, “He has passed away. My son has passed away. The doctors just said they lost him. Even after the surgery yesterday (Wednesday), we had been hopeful that he would come around. My boy, who had lived with me for over seven years, has passed on,” amid tears.
The landlord who shot Paul had been under police custody, and the Imo State Police command, through the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, has confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that Paul’s murderer would face the full weight of the law.
Meanwhile, the community members are enraged, criticizing the landlord for being so cruel.
