The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has raised alarm over renewed violent attacks in parts of Southern Kaduna, calling on both the Federal and Kaduna State governments to take urgent action to protect lives and property, according to a report made by Daily Post.
In a statement signed by its National President, Engr. Tabara Samuel Kato, SOKAPU commended the improved security and relative peace achieved under Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Tinubu, describing it as a positive shift from the tense periods witnessed during past administrations.

However, the group expressed concern over recent attacks in several communities, including Ungwar Rimi, Chawai, Kamaru, Wikeh, Gadanaji, Awon, Kabara, Rumaya, Farin Dutse, Damakasuwa, and Tsam. Between October 23 and 31, at least 14 people were killed and 30 kidnapped, while farmlands and food barns were destroyed.
SOKAPU noted that the destruction of crops at harvest time could worsen food insecurity, particularly after the October 7 incident in Kabara, Kagarko Local Government Area, where farmlands were razed a day after residents protested recurring herdsmen attacks.
The group alleged that some powerful cattle owners and political figures might be fueling the unrest for personal gain and urged authorities to identify and prosecute those responsible.
SOKAPU further appealed for an emergency food and rehabilitation programme for affected communities and reinforced support for the “shoot-at-sight” directive against armed attackers.
