The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has told a Lagos court that it has no evidence to support music star Peter Okoye’s claim that his brothers, Jude and Paul Okoye, fraudulently withdrew $800,000 from their joint company account.
Peter, known as Mr. P, had in 2024 petitioned the EFCC, accusing Jude of diverting P-Square’s funds, secretly operating 47 bank accounts, and manipulating the ownership structure of their company, Northside Entertainment Ltd. The petition led to charges against Jude and his company, Northside Music Ltd., over alleged diversion of royalties amounting to $1 million and £34,000. Jude was arraigned on March 4, 2025, and later granted bail.

During the trial, Peter claimed that fresh evidence showed Jude and Paul withdrew over $800,000 between March 2023 and October 2024, though he later changed the timeline to 2013–2014 under cross-examination. He also insisted Jude owned 80% of Northside Entertainment and kept dozens of undeclared accounts.
However, during Friday’s proceedings (November 28, 2025), EFCC counsel Mohammed Bashir told Justice Rahman Oshodi that the commission could not produce any document backing the $800,000 withdrawal claim.
“We do not have it. It is his evidence. Let him prove it. I can’t give what I don’t have,” Bashir said.
The EFCC also denied having records of the alleged 47 bank accounts. Defence lawyers tendered Corporate Affairs Commission documents showing a different ownership structure from Peter’s claims.
Peter admitted he only discovered the existence of Northside Music in 2024 after receiving Cynthia Morgan’s contract, even though her works carried “Northside Inc.”
The case was adjourned to December 12, 2025, for continuation of trial.
