An Australian state politician has stepped down just a day after his 19-year-old daughter featured in a reality series centred on OnlyFans creators.
Dugald Saunders, the NSW Nationals leader and member for Dubbo, informed colleagues on Monday that he was resigning, saying he needed to prioritize his well-being and family. Minutes later, he released a statement to the media.
“It’s a difficult decision, but it’s the right time for me to take a step back and focus more on my family and myself,” he said.

His daughter, Charlie Saunders (known online as Willow Rae) was one of four women showcased in Spicy Summer, a six-episode online documentary exploring the rise of OnlyFans. The show, filmed in Sydney’s eastern suburbs last year, follows young women building careers on the subscription platform.
Appearing under the name Willow, Charlie told viewers she was from regional NSW and defended her career choice: “I can do what I want, and I’m a legal consenting adult.”
Her OnlyFans bio once described her as “the girl next door if next door’s a farm,” though the account has since been deleted.
A spokesperson for the former party leader insisted his resignation was unrelated to his daughter’s role in the documentary, calling the timing a coincidence.
In the series, Charlie shared that she turned to adult content creation after years of bullying about her appearance in high school, which she said pushed her into depression. She added that social media had made the adult industry seem more acceptable and offered opportunities beyond what was available in her rural community.
Despite the political shake-up, there are reportedly no immediate plans to challenge Saunders’ leadership record. Opposition Leader Mark Speakman praised him as a “steady and constructive” voice for regional NSW. The Nationals will elect a new leader on Tuesday morning.
