The Nigeria Police Cooperative Multi-Purpose Society has unveiled a new welfare initiative aimed at improving mobility and enhancing officer well-being through a loan scheme for electric motorcycles.
According to an internal police communication titled “Police Wireless Message,” the initiative has been approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and will be implemented across all commands and units nationwide. SaharaReporters.
The scheme offers officers the opportunity to purchase Spiro-brand electric bikes through a loan repayment plan. Each motorcycle is valued at ₦1.9 million and will be supplied by Joafol Communications, a private vendor. The Spiro bikes are reported to have a range of up to 80 kilometers on a full charge.
Interested officers can acquire the electric bike through salary deductions of ₦45,000 monthly over a period of 43 months. Payments will be made via the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), with forms for participation available at all Police Cooperative shops.

The wireless message reads:
“X COOPERATIVE ACTIVITIES X IN LINE WITH THE WELFARE PROGRAMME OF INGENPOL X THE NIGERIA POLICE COOPERATIVE MULTI-PURPOSE SOCIETY LTD X WISHES TO INTRODUCE X JOAFOL COMMUNICATIONS X SUPPLIERS OF SPIRO ELECTRIC BIKES X WHEN FULLY CHARGED CAN GO 80 KILOMETERS X ON LOAN TO INTERESTED MEMBERS OF THE FORCE X AT THE RATE OF ONE MILLION NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND NAIRA (N1,900,000) ONLY X.”
“MONTHLY DEDUCTION WILL BE FORTY-FIVE THOUSAND NAIRA (#45,000) ONLY X TO BE PAID WITHIN FORTY-THREE (43) MONTHS X ALL MONEY WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM RECIPIENTS SALARY X VIA IPPIS X FORMS WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE BY THE COMPANY FOR COLLECTION AT ALL COOPERATIVE SHOPS MINE.”
This initiative follows another welfare scheme launched three months ago, in which police officers were offered access to various models of tricycles, including ambulances and pickup variants, supplied by Bulk Stalker Engineering Limited. That earlier plan allowed officers to obtain tricycles worth ₦5.5 million, also through salary deductions of ₦90,000 monthly for 60 months.
These efforts form part of the wider welfare reforms being pushed by the current police leadership under IGP Egbetokun, aiming to provide practical support for officers’ transportation needs and improve overall morale within the force.
