The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of George Idumangi, the prime suspect in the murder of real estate agent, Richard Ekpebu, who was abducted and killed on July 24, 2025.
Idumangi was apprehended on Monday by officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service in Festac Town, Lagos, while attempting to collect his processed international passport. His arrest followed close collaboration between Immigration officials, Operation Puff Adder, and the Lagos Area E Police Command.
According to police sources, Idumangi allegedly offered ₦4 million to Immigration officers in a bid to avoid being handed over. He later offered additional bribes of ₦2 million to delete files from his phone and ₦3 million to have the device destroyed. All offers were rejected.

“When our men refused, he even repeated the same attempt when Operation Puff Adder arrived, but they stood their ground,” a senior officer revealed.
The suspect’s phone and passport are now in police custody, and he will be transferred to Yenagoa to face prosecution.
Other accomplices in the crime have been identified as Victor Shadrack, popularly called Doggy, a suspect known as Insurance, and Victory Benard Henry, who allegedly received ₦1 million for her role.
Police spokesman, SP Musa Mohammed, confirmed the bribery attempts and commended officers for their integrity.
