Somewhere in Abia, three mortuary workers are currently detained by the police, who had rushed in during the heat of the commotion, adhering to the family of a deceased person discovering missing body parts of the deceased.
The discovery of missing body parts, including the deceased’s tongue and testicle, led to an outrage where locals interfered. Seeing the mortuary attendants were planning to flee led to the men being beaten severely and left with injuries. They were only saved by the men of the Nigerian police.
The incident occurred at a mortuary located between Afoukwu and Abayi Okoroato village along the Aba-Ikot Ekpene highway in Obingwa Local Government Area.

“This is beyond belief. We never expected such a thing to happen. The body was tampered with,” said a family member, visibly shaken by the discovery.
“The situation was tense, and we had to act fast to prevent the attendants from being killed. The youths were furious, and they didn’t hold back.” A police officer involved in the rescue, mortuary workers said.
In Igbo culture, cutting off body parts of a dead person is a serious taboo. As a result of this incident, families who kept their loved ones at the mortuary are scared and are rushing to collect the bodies, afraid they may have also been tampered with.
