Nigerian Army troops from the 3 Division’s Operation Lafiyan Jama’a have pulled off a successful dawn ambush in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, rescuing four abducted persons and neutralising one kidnapper.

The operation was launched after intelligence confirmed the abduction of the four victims from Rimi village in Jere District.

At about 3:28 a.m. on Friday, Sector 1 troops deployed from Jingre laid in wait along the kidnappers’ suspected withdrawal oute. When contact was made, a firefight ensued — forcing the gang to abandon their captives and flee.

M Troops later discovered the body of one neutralised kidnapper, and recovered an AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the scene. No casualties were recorded among the troops, who debriefed the rescued victims before reuniting them with their families.

Efforts are currently underway to track down the remaining members of the kidnap gang, with military sources stating that personnel morale and fighting efficiency remain high.
