Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has claimed that Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi was the actual winner of the 2023 presidential election in Rivers State.
Speaking during an X Space discussion on Saturday, Amaechi said, “I can agree with you to some extent that Obi won Rivers State. But I don’t know how the results were changed.”

His statement adds a fresh twist to the lingering debate over the February 2023 election results.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner nationally, also announcing that APC secured 231,591 votes in Rivers. The Labour Party was placed second with 175,071 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came third with 88,468 votes.
Amaechi, a former governor of the state, did not provide details on how the alleged changes occurred but implied that the official results did not reflect the true outcome in Rivers.
