Report reaching Igbo Tv has it that over 200 cartons of alcoholic drinks were seized on Wednesday December 11, by the Sokoto State Hisbah Board at the State’s Central Motor Park.

The drinks were confiscated by Sharia law enforcement agency known as Hisbah as part of its efforts to ensure strict compliance with Islamic teachings in the State.

The Board’s Commander, Usman Jatau while addressing journalists at the Hisbah office in Sokoto on Wednesday, December 11, confirmed the action carried out by the team, and noted that no one has shown up to claim ownership of the forfeited drinks.

However, the board are awaiting response from the State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General to determine what is to be done next.

The Commander went ahead to indulge the journalists on the demands of Sharia Law while pleading with the public to try and comply with the teachings of Allah and avoid unethical conducts, and things that are prohibited according to the dictates of Sharia.

“Let me appeal to the people to fear Allah (SWT) in all our dealings and avoid all prohibited activities, such as mingling between males and females. Dress codes and social interactions must align with Islamic law.
