Maiduguri –Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully fended off a coordinated ISWAP terrorist attack on their stabilisation base in Mairari, with the operation running from late on 12 December 2025 into the early hours of today.

The terrorists attempted to breach the forward operating base (FOB) using two Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) — but both were swiftly detected and neutralised by the prepared troops, preventing any penetration of the base.

CCTV footage confirmed multiple terrorists were killed or seriously wounded, with survivors seen evacuating their dead and wounded.

In the aftermath, Sector 3 OPHK/MNJTF troops — supported by the Quick Reaction Group, Nigeria Police Crack Team, and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) — conducted a thorough sweep of the area.

The operation uncovered several terrorist corpses and a large cache of abandoned weapons, ammunition, and logistics, including AK-47 rifles, PKT rounds, hand grenades, motorcycles, communication gear, and medical supplies.

While the neutralised VBIEDs caused road damage at two points, no troops were harmed and the FOB remained secure.

Troops are now conducting aggressive patrols to dominate the area and deter further attacks, reaffirming their commitment to defeating terrorism and restoring peace in the North East.
