Corps Members of the 2025 Batch C deployed to Osun State and those dislodged from Lagos State on Saturday showcased Nigeria’s cultural richness and unity during the Cultural Carnival held at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.The colourful event featured dance, drama, music, and traditional attire, reflecting Nigeria’s diverse ethnic identities and promoting national integration among the Corps Members.All ten platoons participated in the cultural showcase, each representing a distinct ethnic group drawn from across the country.
Their performances highlighted both the similarities and uniqueness of Nigeria’s many cultural traditions.The cultural presentations saw Platoon 1 represent the Hausa, Platoon 2 the Edo, and Platoon 3 the Ibibio cultures, each delivering spirited displays that captured the essence of their assigned ethnic groups.Similarly, Platoon 4 depicted the Tiv, Platoon 5 showcased the Isoko, and Platoon 6 portrayed the Ijaw culture, adding to the richness and colour of the day’s performances.
The lineup continued with Platoon 7 representing Idoma, Platoon 8 showcasing Yoruba, Platoon 9 presenting Fulani, and Platoon 10 displaying Kanuri culture. In his address, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr. Obim Agbor, encouraged Corps Members to appreciate the cultural diversity showcased and to use the carnival as an avenue to learn, connect, and create lasting memories.He commended the Corps Members for their resilience throughout the Orientation programme and charged them to carry forward the spirit of unity demonstrated during the carnival.The event also featured a special recognition moment where Corps Members who celebrated their birthdays between November 19 and December 9 were honoured with a ceremonial cake-cutting.Earlier, the Head of Socials and Reception, Mr. Sesan Fadeyi, expressed gratitude to staff, Corps Members, and collaborating groups such as the Orientation Broadcasting Service (OBS), SERVICOM, and the logistics team for their support.
The carnival’s atmosphere was further enlivened by energetic displays from Man O’ War, Mami Market traders, the NYSC Band, and the NYSC Foundation School, Omo West, whose Bata dance and marching demonstration thrilled the crowd.A panel of judges assessed the platoon performances based on procession, cultural representation, overall presentation, creativity, dance, and audience engagement, resulting in Platoon 4 emerging overall winner, Platoon 7 placing second, and Platoon 9 coming third.Prize presentations rounded off the celebration, marking a memorable close to one of the most anticipated events of the 2025 Batch C Orientation Course in Osun State.2025 Batch C
