The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has promised to help develop and commercialize football in Nigeria, aiming to raise it to the standard of European leagues like the EPL and La Liga.
This announcement came from Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, during a meeting with the National Sports Commission, the International Management Group (IMG), and Afrosport Network at the NNPC Towers.

Kyari expressed NNPC’s commitment, saying, “NNPC will be a key partner in the mission to restore value to our football, reshape it, re-engineer it, and bring joy to our people.”
According to him, football holds great potential not just for entertainment but also for boosting the Nigerian economy. He added that NNPCL is excited to be a part of this transformative project.
