Celebrity businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has reacted to the life sentence of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu on Thursday, November 20, 2025, publicly cautioning President Bola Tinubu and insisting that the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu will cost the President the support of the South-East in the 2027 elections.
In a strongly worded Instagram post, CP said Tinubu should not expect up to 10,000 votes from the region if the IPOB leader remains behind bars.
Describing Kanu as “the supreme leader of the South-East,” he argued that Kanu’s prolonged detention has caused major setbacks for the region and strained the relationship between the people and the Federal Government.

Chief Priest criticised South-East ministers and political appointees, accusing them of lacking the courage to speak truth to the President. He claimed they are only interested in personal gains and land allocations rather than addressing the grievances of the people.
He also lamented that many politicians from the region could no longer freely visit their hometowns because of the tension surrounding Kanu’s arrest. According to him, only Kanu’s release can restore trust and give the ruling administration a chance to win genuine support.
The nightlife promoter urged Governor Hope Uzodinma to intervene, stressing that the President’s legacy in the region could be “swept under the carpet” if action is not taken. He warned that keeping Kanu in detention would ultimately lead to political losses, advising Tinubu to “appeal the judgement and get it right” before 2027.
Chief Priest concluded by declaring that “the South-East belongs to MNK,” adding that the President ignores the sentiment at his own risk.

Igbo TV earlier reported that the IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu was given a life sentence on Thursday, November 20, 2025 after 10 years of trial. Justice Omotosho, who gave the judgement at the Federal High Court Abuja, said the judgement was fair due to political reasons. Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyers vowed to appeal the sentence.
