In a heartbreaking incident that has shocked both Nigerians and Italians, 27-year-old Patricia Masithela tragically lost her life after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs in Latina, a city in Italy’s Lazio region.
The incident occurred late Sunday night as Patricia visited a villa on Via Piccarello to see a friend, unaware that he was not home at the time.
Witness accounts suggest that as Patricia approached the villa’s garden, a group of four or five dogs described as “emaciated and aggressive” launched a brutal attack.
Her screams echoed through the neighborhood, prompting residents to call for emergency assistance.

When authorities arrived, they found Patricia severely injured, lying in a pool of blood. Officers were forced to shoot one dog and injure another to disperse the pack and allow first responders to reach her.

Despite being rushed to Santa Maria Goretti Hospital in critical condition, Patricia succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival due to severe blood loss. The wounds inflicted during the attack were extensive.
Reports indicate that the same dogs had previously attacked the villa’s owner and his partner in the weeks leading up to the incident, raising concerns about why the animals were left unchecked.
Patricia, who recently immigrated from Nigeria to Lazio, Italy, leaves behind a grieving five-year-old daughter, while authorities have begun investigating the circumstances leading up to this horrific event.

The villa has been sealed off, and the surviving dogs are being sought for further examination.
