Recall that Igbo Tv had reported the arrest of Nigerian-Finnish pro-Biafran agitator Simon Ekpa by the Finland authorities with charges of funding terrorism and inciting violence in Southeastern Nigeria.

The Prime Minister of the separatist group who was arrested in November 2024, alongside four others, for using his social media channels to incite violence with terrorism intent, had since been remanded by the Finnish Court barring when he would be tried in May 2025.

Although during his first hearing, he had denied allegations, saying he was just a content creator and not a Prime Minister of Biafra in Exile.

Speculations had earlier circulated of the Nigerian Government requesting extradition of Simon Ekpa for his legal proceedings in Nigeria where he has been accused of inciting violence. None of such speculations held water, until on Tuesday December 31 2024.

During the Channels Television’s 2024 Year-In-Review program, Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, revealed that the Nigerian Government had submitted a formal request with the required documentations to the Finnish Government, for the extradition of Simon Ekpa back to Nigeria, to face his charges.

When asked about the arrest of Simon Ekpa and what the Nigerian Government are doing about it, General Musa said, “Well, I’m sure he’s cooling off somewhere.”

“Legal action will be taken accordingly. I don’t want to say too much, but I’m glad he’s been arrested. The Federal Government has provided most of the required documentation to the Finnish Government, so I’m confident the right steps will be taken,” he said.

Recall that Igbo Tv had earlier reported that Simon Ekpa was remanded in one the world’s toughest prison facilities, where hardened criminals, murderers and rapists are held.

Also recall that after the arrest of their leader, the IPOB sect had declared themselves legitimate citizens of the United States of Biafra, an event which was chaired by Simon Ekpa’s acclaimed Chief of Staff, Dr Ngozi Orabueze, a United States resident.
