Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called on young people across Lagos to consider joining the Nigerian Army, saying it’s more than just a uniformed job — it’s a chance to grow, learn, and serve the country with pride.
The governor’s message came during a community outreach held at the palace of the Olofin of Isheri Olofin. Though Sanwo-Olu wasn’t physically present, he was represented by Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, with the state’s Secretary to the Government, Olumuyiwa Ojelabi, also relaying key details.
According to them, the Nigerian Army is currently recruiting for its 89 Regular Recruits Intake, and the window is open until May 17, 2025. Both tradesmen and non-tradesmen — men and women alike — are welcome to apply.

Sanwo-Olu said the Army isn’t just about combat anymore. “There are real career paths in law, medicine, aviation, and even tech,” he explained, highlighting how military life now offers more opportunities for self-development and long-term stability than many people realize.
The community event pulled together parents, young adults, artisans, and local leaders — all with the goal of spreading the word and encouraging more Lagos youths to see the Army as a meaningful career option.
Speaking at the event, the traditional ruler of Isheri Olofin, Oba Olasunkanmi Lawal-Bello, praised the governor’s initiative. He promised to do his part to mobilize young people in his community, saying the Army can provide purpose, structure, and skills that last a lifetime.
He also threw his weight behind the governor’s THEMES+ development plan, especially its focus on education and healthcare.
Sanwo-Olu assured the community that the state is ready to support any eligible candidate from Lagos who steps forward to serve.
