Nigeria’s juju Music icon King Sunny Ade (KSA) was recently reported missing by his daughter, Damilola Adeniyi-Adegeye. In trending posts, Damilola accused KSA’s manager and stepbrother, Dayo, and other family members of kidnapping the 78-year-old musician.
She claimed that they were exploiting the musician by making him perform in return for money under duress, controlling his finances, and refusing to let him return home.
Damilola raised a complaint about the health of her father, attributing to the alleged abductors the administration of sleeping pills to him and changing hotels.

Media personality Akanbi amplified Damilola’s allegation on Instagram, asserting that KSA’s close friends had not been able to reach him.

Damilola shared chat screenshots with family members, alleging that her father seemed upset on their last call before the phone was quickly taken away from him. But the claims were promptly dismissed.

An aide to one of King Sunny Ade’s workers, who wished to remain anonymous, dismissed the claims as rumor, saying that KSA had attended an event at the weekend in Lagos.
KSA’s son, Dayo Adegeye, also issued a statement reassuring his father’s safety and condemning the kidnapping claims as malicious attempts to tarnish the singer’s image. He reassured fans that King Sunny Ade was in good spirits and well and that the family was taking steps to correct the misinformation.

The news has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with the majority expressing concern for the welfare of the legendary musician.
King Sunny Ade, in the meantime, continues to hold on to his music and legacy, recently performing at Davido’s lavish wedding ceremony.
