Chaos erupted in Katsina on Saturday during a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) fixture between Katsina United and Barau FC, after a Barau player, Nana Abraham, was brutally attacked by enraged home fans.
The violence broke out shortly after Barau’s forward, Orji Kalu, scored a 69th-minute equaliser, bringing the match to 1-1. The goal appeared to anger some Katsina United supporters, who stormed the pitch and descended on Abraham, leaving him with a deep gash on his neck.
