Senator Ned Nwoko has once again sparked public debate after declaring that men are more stable and fulfilled when they have more than one wife.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, the Delta North lawmaker (known for his polygamous household) said he believes every man should consider marrying multiple wives.
“I’m sure you have a wife and girlfriends,” Nwoko told the interviewer with a smile. “Now imagine I tell you to stand on one leg—it’s difficult. But when you stand on two, three, or four legs, you’re more balanced. That’s how polygamy works. I actually feel sorry for men who have only one wife.”

When asked about the biblical position on polygamy, Nwoko said, “The Old Testament supports it. I am a man of the Old Testament and a man of faith.”
Pressed on whether he plans to marry more wives, he laughed, saying, “That’s not what we’re here for,” but admitted he would “do it again and again” if given the chance.
Responding to rumors of domestic abuse, the senator dismissed them as false. “I’m not a violent person. I respect and love my wives and children,” he said.
Nwoko, a businessman and husband to actress Regina Daniels, has long defended polygamy as both traditional and practical for African men.
