A former top U.S. military official, Douglas Macgregor, says Israel is in a much worse condition than many believe, as the war with Iran continues to escalate.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Macgregor claimed that about one-third of Tel Aviv has been damaged or destroyed and that Israeli fighter jets are being moved to Cyprus to avoid being hit. He wrote, “Don’t be fooled, Israel is in worse shape than people think. About 1/3 of Tel Aviv has been damaged or destroyed.”
“Israel was not prepared for Iran’s response,” he wrote.
This comes just days after a major Iranian missile strike hit Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva and other civilian areas in Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during a visit to the hospital, said, “We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran.”

He also accused Iran of trying to wipe out all Israelis, saying, “Every single one of us. Down to the last one of us.”
The fighting between the two countries has reached dangerous levels. Israel started the recent clashes by launching airstrikes on Iran, claiming they were “preemptive.” In response, Iran and its allies have fired dozens of missiles back, killing civilians and causing widespread fear.
Netanyahu says Israel is targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile bases and insists the war is not just about the Middle East but a global turning point.
