Israel Has Again Eliminated Iran’s Newly Appointed Military Commander Maj. Gen. Ali Shadmani Before He Even Resumed Duties

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, announced sweeping changes to the country’s military leadership after Israeli airstrikes eliminated several senior commanders and nuclear scientists. The appointments were made public on Saturday via Khamenei’s official X channel.

“In view of Lt‑Gen. Gholamali Rashid’s martyrdom at the hands of the vile Zionist regime… I confer the rank of Major Gen. and appoint him Commander of the Khatam al‑Anbiya Central HQ,” Khamenei declared, replacing Rashid with Major Gen. Ali Shadmani.

He also addressed the loss of IRGC leadership:
“In view of the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Hossein Salami at the hands of the vile Zionist regime…and in light of Major General Mohammad Pakpour’s meritorious services and valuable experience, I appoint him as Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,” Khamenei confirmed.

A third decree read:
“In view of the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri… & in light of Major General Sayyid Abdolrahim Mousavi’s meritorious services & valuable experience, I appoint him as Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.”

These changes follow an escalation by Israel, which launched Operation “Rising Lion”—a wave of strikes targeting nuclear and military sites in Natanz, Fordow, and Tehran. Among those killed were IRGC commander Hossein Salami, military chief Mohammad Bagheri, aerospace commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh, and several nuclear scientists.

Israel justified the strikes as preventive measures against Iran’s supposed nuclear ambitions. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu notably declared on national television that “Moments ago, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion… This operation will continue for as many days as it takes to remove this threat.”

In response, Iran launched a large-scale missile and drone barrage at Israel late Friday night, prompting air raid sirens and civilian alerts across Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

The crisis has drawn urgent international attention: global markets have reacted sharply, leaders are calling for diplomacy, and the UN Security Council has scheduled an emergency session.
