In Anambra: A Young Widow to Face Breaking-in and Stealing Charges for Going into Her Late Husband's House, After Being Accused of Killing Husband by In-Laws

An already grieving young widow is now facing fresh legal troubles over the death of her husband, a vigilante officer in Anambra State, whom she got married to just last year. After being accused of killing her husband by the husband’s family and being cleared of murder charges, she will face breaking-in and stealing charges.

According to a Facebook post by activist and socialite Harrison Gwamnishu, the woman was arrested alongside a friend following the death of her husband, who was shot while on duty and later died in the hospital. His family accused her of being responsible for his death, leading to her detention at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka.

After spending seven days in police custody, an autopsy and thorough investigation cleared her of any involvement. However, in a shocking twist, the Anambra State Police Command is preparing to arraign her again—this time for alleged breaking and entry and stealing.

The so-called “theft” involves car documents belonging to a vehicle her late husband had reportedly gifted her before his death. The alleged “breaking” refers to her attempt to access their matrimonial home, which had been locked up by her husband’s family immediately after his death.

Legal documents obtained by Harrison Gwamnishu, show that the case has been filed at the High Court.

More details about the incident will be updated later upon receipt of Harrison Gwamnishu’s full video.
