Former Nigerian Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has fired back at U.S. President Donald Trump over his recent threats to cut aid and possibly launch military action against Nigeria. Trump had accused the Nigerian government of allowing the killing of Christians and vowed that the United States might intervene “guns-a-blazing” if the situation persists.
Reacting in a lengthy post on X, Fani-Kayode described Trump as a “deranged and sociopathic megalomaniac,” a “cheap, shameless bully,” and a “godless scumbag” for threatening Nigeria with war. He accused Trump of trying to “label Nigeria with the genocide tag” and create chaos in the country.
The former minister shared a message he received from a friend condemning Trump’s statement, saying Africans must stop seeing Western nations as moral superiors. “These people are not our friends, have never been, and will never be,” the message read. Fani-Kayode said he agreed completely, adding, “We shall not leave the country but will fight it out if they try to bring war here.”

He went further to accuse Trump of hypocrisy, noting that the U.S. president had refused to condemn Israeli actions in Gaza or the Sudanese conflict while pretending to defend Christians in Nigeria. “Trump, a fascist and associate of Netanyahu, is desperately trying to label our nation with the genocide tag,” he wrote.
Fani-Kayode urged the Nigerian government to resist being “hoodwinked” by American officials with extremist views and to stand firm in defending the country’s sovereignty.
His response comes amid rising diplomatic tensions after Trump designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” and threatened sanctions and possible military action over alleged persecution of Christians.
