Of recent there have been debates on whether it is right for couples and romantic partners to go through each other’s phone.
While many believe it is totally wrong for persons to go through their partners’ phones, as phones are part of one’s privacy, some are of the view that partners are not supposed to keep secrets from each other, that a relationship based on trust does not involve secrets, hence a partner can safely go through the other’s phones.
Nigerian lady lawyer identified as Shesupe Blessing @SisiiFerrari on twitter (X) has gained the attention of internet users after she asserted that she would definitely go through the phone of whoever marries her, and she would allow same on hers.

According to her a clear conscience has nothing to fear if their partner touches their phone. That the argument that going through one’s partner’s phone is not advisable is for those that have something to hide.
“If I marry you, best believe I’d go through your phone! You can go through mine too. If your conscience clear you no go dey fear anything. All these “it’s not advisable” na for people wey get things to hide. My parents leave their phones to eachother everytime,” she wrote.

“I agree with you. But leaving the phone with each other comes later in marriage. Sometimes leaving the phone is not to hide infidelity, it’s just to save some marriages. Not all wives from their antecedence show the capacity to hold their in- laws secret and not use them against the husband during heated moments. There are some family group discussions not all spouses want to read.”
