I will Retire from Politics after my Two Terms in Office - Abia Governor Alex Otti

The governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has opened up on his future political career, saying he will retire on completion of his two terms as governor.

Governor Alex Otti made this known at the Anambra Development Union Association Aba branch reception, held in his honor.

The governor debunked rumors that he was going for the senate after his governorship tenure, arguing that such rumors are lies and should never be peddled.

He said he intends to retire from active politics, holding the opinion that the younger generation should be given a chance to take charge of the country’s administrative strides while already established politicians step aside for new leadership to flow, highlighting the current trend of youth participation in politics in the country.

Alex Otti also revealed his plans to revisit the case of 154 civil servants, including teachers, that were dismissed from service in 2011 by the then administration.

He ordered the Head of Civil Service to begin review of the sacked employees instantly to find a path for resolution while condemning their dismissal from service, which is alleged to have been based on state of origin, saying it is both unjust and illegal.

Members of the Abia State House of Assembly, Stephen Ucheonye and Obiora Nwakpadolo, praised the governor for his leadership impact, which prompted the organization of the event in his honor.

Meanwhile, Governor Alex Otti promised to continue in his commitment to justice and equitable leadership while correcting the mistakes of past administrations.
