A security guard, David Moses, has confessed to the chilling murder of a school nurse and a 14-month-old baby at Clear Hope Foundation Academy in Dawaki, Abuja.
Moses, who was posted to the school by a private security firm, told police he carried out the act alongside his friend, identified as Sunday Irimiya, who is currently on the run.
During an interrogation at the FCT Police Command, Moses said they initially planned to kidnap the victims and demand a ransom of ₦250 million but later settled for ₦3 million.
“What brought me here is that I killed a child and a nurse at Clear Hope School on July 23. Me and my friend demanded ₦250 million ransom, but we later collected ₦3 million,” he confessed.

Trouble reportedly started between the two men after they received the ransom. Moses said Sunday stabbed him during an argument over how to share the money and fled with the cash. Wounded, Moses sought help from a resident and eventually surrendered to the police after being treated at a hospital.
“I was bleeding and weak, so I dragged myself to someone’s house nearby. I didn’t tell them everything because I was scared the community would kill me. But I asked them to call the police.”
He explained that the nurse, Mrs. Chinyere Anaene, had given him ₦300 for food earlier that day. He lured her to a toilet area where Sunday strangled her with a rope. According to Moses, Sunday insisted they also kill the child, Nanenter Asher Yese, to justify the ransom amount.
“I said the woman alone was enough, but Sunday insisted. I went back and brought the baby,” Moses said.
The Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, confirmed the victims were reported missing the same day the ransom was demanded using the nurse’s phone. He said the suspects collected the money even after killing their victims.
The school principal, two other guards, and the security company’s Chief Security Officer have also been arrested as investigations continue. The firm has admitted it failed to properly document Moses’ employment.
Efforts are ongoing to track down the second suspect, Sunday Irimiya.
