Governance in Nigeria is Now a Crime Scene; Let's Dismantle this Criminality — Says Peter Obi

Anambra State’s former Governor, Peter Obi, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration on the way the country is being run, stating that workers are not catered for while “government officials who do not toil are busy looting public funds.”

The former Labour Party presidential candidate stated so during a rally on Tuesday at the Godfrey Okoye School of Nursing in Enugu State.

Obi was disillusioned with the governance of Nigeria and referenced reports from the World Bank and UNICEF that indicated the rising poverty and malnutrition problem in Nigeria.

Peter Obi denounced the current government case in Nigeria as a “crime scene” in which money is squandered instead of used for the people.

He called for prompt reforms to end systemic corruption and put the wealth of the country to work for all. Obi also raised an alarm at the dire shortage of nurses, highlighting a gap between the needed 1.2 million and fewer than 200,000 registered nurses.

He praised volunteer organizations, especially the church, for stepping in to carry out roles that the government has neglected.
