The Chairman, Board of Management, Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Dr Dayo Israel, has urged Nigerian youths to stand firm, and be confident as they have crucial roles to play in rebuilding the country.

Israel said that the youth must remain confident and continue to use every opportunity that comes across their path as government officials or in a private capacity to join forces with the government of President Bola Tinubu to build a more virile and stronger Nigeria.

Israel, who is also the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress, made this call on Wednesday during the inauguration of the state chapter executives of the All Progressives Congress Youth League held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.

The youth leader said, ” President Tinubu and other state governments for giving Nigerian youths opportunities to be in government, saying that it is incumbent on those appointed to make judicious use of such privilege in turning things around for the country.”

He explained,” The country needs to enter a new phase because there are a lot of things that need to be done; there’s a lot of work that needs to be done.

“And so we’re grateful to our President, Bola Tinubu and all our governors for encouraging and giving more opportunities for younger people to come in because to rebuild Nigeria, there’s a lot of work to be done.

“And the youths are now privileged to be in charge of many of those responsibilities. For example, my brother, Lanre Sodipo is the chairman of Abeokuta North. I’m chairman of the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta for example.”

Israel added, saying, “So when you begin to look at it, that we’re beginning to be given assignments to do, we have a duty to begin to take care of our beat and turn the country around to make it friendly to our citizens.

“Our youth must also learn not to give up, you have to be driven yourself. Many times we don’t have everything that we need to have to do all that we need to do. But what drives us is our passion, our commitment to see change, and to see Nigeria become great.

“So don’t give excuse that you don’t have money, you don’t have government; see what you can achieve for yourself, and God will put the wind behind your sail.”

The National President of APC Youth League and Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Youth Development, Olamide Lawal, while speaking at the occasion, also urged the youth to continue to be good examples and support the present administration in its determined bid to make the country greater and prosperous.

Lawal said, “I also want to urge the youths not to emulate the waywardness of some people because we are now in the era of the digital age, whereby we see a lot of things on social media.

“They should be careful of the kind of things they follow on social media and ensure that they are godly, and therefore make sure that they acquire one or two skills because the government cannot give the job to everybody.”

He said that the newly inaugurated executives of the state chapter of APC Youth League have been trained and oriented to further go to the grassroots to strengthen the political base of the ruling party through meaningful engagement.

Lawal, while thanking Abiodun and Tinubu for their favorable disposition towards youth empowerment, also called for more investment in initiatives that are tailored towards boosting the youth’s capacity and preparing them for a greater tomorrow.
