Fresh details have emerged about the sudden illness of Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, who reportedly collapsed shortly before his planned trip to Washington, D.C., for the World Bank Fall Meetings, a report by SaharaReporters says.
According to multiple sources, Edun’s collapse was not caused by a health condition alone but by an alarming revelation—his name was allegedly listed among individuals targeted by a group of military officers accused of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to SaharaReporters the minister “collapsed after learning he was number four on the so-called list of targets.” The list was allegedly linked to a group of officers under investigation for a planned violent takeover of government.

Following initial denials about his health status, Edun was later spotted in London, walking with assistance at an art exhibition. He has since confirmed that he travelled to the UK for medical treatment.
The alleged coup plot has led to the arrest of several senior officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. They are currently being detained by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) for interrogation.

While the military maintains that the officers were detained over internal disciplinary issues, multiple sources claim the arrests are connected to a broader investigation into a failed coup attempt against the Tinubu-led government.
