A report from Dezda community in Malawi has it that a married woman got enraged on her maize farm and destroyed all the crops after catching her husband cheating with another woman on the farm.
According to the report, the said woman had visited the farm to go get some vegetables when her eyes beheld what affected her state of mind; she saw her husband making out with another woman on the farm.
The husband and the mistress, on being caught, absconded the field, leaving the enraged and embittered wife to throw fists at whatever was around her. And unfortunately, it was the maize crops on the farm.

She reportedly took hold of a slasher and cut down every standing maize plant on the farm in her rage, until everything was down to the ground.
An eyewitness narrated that efforts to stop her from destroying the crops proved abortive. “She was slashing at the maize like it was her enemy. We tried to stop her, but she wouldn’t listen,” the eyewitness said.
As the incident sparked reactions from lots of people, speculations of whether the maize farm is the family’s source of income have been made.
